About Chandler Lodge
Chandler Lodge was founded in 1960 by a small group of men who wanted to provide a stable and secure environment for men trying to recover from alcohol and drug addiction. Our original house opened on September 20th and the first resident was an alcoholic from the skid row area of Los Angeles.
When the Lodge became a successful element in the transformation of recovering alcoholics, it was registered with the State of California as a non-profit organization in 1963.
We quickly outgrew our capacity and two years later acquired the residence at 11455 Chandler Boulevard, next door to the original house. We expanded once more when one of our original members helped us obtain the residence at 11442 Cumpston Street (the 3/4 house), just behind the Chandler Blvd houses. The Cumpston residence houses “graduates” of Chandler Lodge houses #1 and #2, and provides an additional, less structured period of time for integration into society.
The Chandler Lodge Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of clean and sober members of our community as well as altruistic members of society.
